When Briana Cushman, 26, volunteers with the children who reside at Hillsides, she tells them something that’s guaranteed to elicit a big reaction: She once lived there, too. “At first, the kids don’t believe it,” said Cushman, who is events co-chair for Hillsides Volunteer Network (HVN), a support group that puts on monthly activities for the children.  “But then I explain that they can pursue everything they want in life. They can move on from the past and find success.”   Cushman is living proof of this.

Regifting has a bad name. If a present has been recycled, it’s usually something undesirable. Not so for the 10 girls who live at the Canyon Cottage at Hillsides residential therapeutic treatment program in Pasadena.  They are the beneficiaries of a very appealing pass-along gift -- $2,000 for tickets to Disneyland.  And all because of the generosity of a Hillsides employee.

(June 13, 2016, PASADENA, CA) On June 9, Hillsides broke ground on its $12 million capital project, CREATING LASTING CHANGE, during a well-attended groundbreaking ceremony on its Pasadena campus.  Hillsides donors, volunteers, employees, and children donned hard hats and shoveled dirt in anticipation of the first stage of improvements, which will include a new swimming pool and cabana and an outdoor recreation area that will feature a grassy play area, basketball courts, a large sand box, and swing sets.   The road leading to campus will also be reconfigured and a welcoming entrance kiosk w

 (June 7, 2016, PASADENA, CA)   Hillsides Youth Moving On Peer Resource Center (PRC), a one-stop shop of centralized support for transition age youth 16 - 25, is celebrating its three-year anniversary on June 22, 2016 from 12:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. at the Youth Moving On  building at 650 North Oakland Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91101. The celebration is free and open to the public.
