Many of Hillsides' supporters are children who decide to take a stand for children in need by organizing a community service project at school, church or in extra-curricular activities. Children Stand for Children-Nurturing Children's Creativity Through Giving is a child advocacy program sponsored by Hillsides.
We believe it is important to showcase what children are doing to take a stand for at-risk kids, and to educate parents, teachers and the community on how together, with youth, they can make a difference in turning the focus to helping children in need. To find out how you can get involved in Children Stand for Children and promote what children in your community are doing to support at-risk kids, contact Marisol Barrios-Jordan at (323) 254-2274, ext. 274 or email us at info@hillsides.org.

Many thanks to The Walt Disney Company for sponsoring Hillsides' fifth annual Children Stand for Children Celebration Banquet
This year's recipient of the Youth Group Compassion Award was National Charity League's San Marino Area Chapter - Ticktockers.
Knowing the Pasadena Unified School District was in great need of books for the libraries and its classrooms at all grade levels, the Ticktockers decided to hold a book drive. For weeks before the event the Ticktockers collected new and gently used books from families and friends. On October 1, 2006, the Ticktockers gathered together with nearly 10,000 books they had all collected. For hours they sorted the books into specific grade levels, boxing them and carrying them to waiting trucks. Pasadena Unified School District was overwhelmed with the selection and the wonderful condition of the books. They were distributed to the librarians and teachers at a "Book Give Away" on October 25.
"Please accept the thanks of our Chapter for choosing our Ticktockers as a recipient of the Compassion Award and also for the wonderful ceremony and banquet! We will proudly display the beautiful star [award] and letter [of recognition from Mayor Bill Bogaard] at Main Street Attraction, our thrift shop where we raise money for grants & scholarships. We are proud to be honored by Hillsides, which does such outstanding work," sincerely Jacqueline Ficht, President of National Charity League San Marino Chapter.
