YMO Transitional Housing

YMO Transitional Housing Application for Prospective Youth Moving On Residents is Below

From its inception in 1913 until its present-day status as a foster care children's charity, Hillsides creates safe places for children at risk and their families.

Upon emancipation from foster care, former foster youth must make their way in the world with little support or experience. Nearly half of these youth will find themselves homeless. Studies have also found that these same youth will flourish if they are in a healthy group living situation with peers who are motivated and supported in activities that lead to reaching career and educational goals that foster independence.

Hillsides Youth Moving On (YMO) is made possible by the generous support from Everychild Foundation.  YMO, a 24-month transitional housing program, provides stable, safe, affordable housing in a supportive community to empower former foster youth in their journey towards successful independence. We help youth transition into a life of independence with the following services:

Services include:

  • Individualized Transitional Planning
  • Money Management Training
  • Resident Advisor and 24-Hour Crisis Management
  • Mental Health Services
  • Volunteer Mentoring Program

  • Medi-Cal eligible
  • History of DCFS placement after age 16
